The number of students seeking STEM degrees and careers is growing across the country. But not every student hoping to pursue a STEM program of study is ready for calculus.

Rebecca Hartzler of the Dana Center and Suzanne Dorée of Augsburg College recently tackled this subject in MAA FOCUS, the official newsmagazine of the Mathematical Association of America. They focus on three main reform areas, exploring how colleges and universities are improving how we prepare students for calculus.
