Dana Center Role

Michael provides professional learning opportunities and resources for teachers and leaders to catalyze school and district improvements that increase student success in mathematics and advance college-and career-readiness goals, with special emphasis at the elementary level.

Michael develops and refines tools and resources for educators and leaders to advance evidence-based practices in leadership, content, instruction, assessment, and learning. Michael designs, plans, and facilitates development experiences for teachers and leaders—both in person and virtually.

Michael was elected to the board of NCSM as the Regional Director Southern 2.

Before Joining The Dana Center

Michael spent more than 10 years with the Polk County School District in Florida, serving as an elementary school teacher, school-based mathematics coach, and district mathematics coach. In the latter position, he created, coordinated, and facilitated district-wide professional developments on teaching math conceptually, cooperative learning in math, writing in math, making math vocabulary memorable, mathematics formative assessment system, differentiation and math centers, and standards of mathematical practice.

In 2013, Michael was named his school’s Teacher of the Year.
