David Bressoud

David Bressoud is Director of the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences and the DeWitt Wallace Professor of Mathematics Emeritus at Macalester College. He has served as President of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), as Chair of the AP Calculus Development Committee, and as Principal Investigator for the MAA's national studies of college calculus and for the NSF-sponsored workshop on “The Role of Calculus in the Transition from High School to College Mathematics.”

He chaired the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Macalester from 1995 until 2001 and has held visiting positions at the Institute for Advanced Study, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the University of Minnesota, Université Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg, France), and the State College Area High School. He has published seven textbooks and over sixty research articles in number theory, combinatorics, special functions, and mathematics education.
