Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
The increased focus on college and career readiness for all Texas students, as evidenced by the new STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) system, reinforces the mandate that every Texas district and school implement curriculum and instruction aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, the state standards that describe what every student should know and be able to do in core academic subjects.
Since the mid-1990s, the Dana Center has developed research-based resources and professional development to support deep and meaningful implementation of the TEKS. In collaboration with school districts across Texas, our education technology partner Agile Mind, and other experts, we have developed an integrated suite of resources and services to support educators in implementing the TEKS.
Our services to support your successful TEKS implementation include expert in-district, on-site support, as well as ongoing professional development and technical assistance.
With Agile Mind, we provide comprehensive TEKS-aligned mathematics programs for teachers and students from middle school through high school. We also offer a mathematics course for high school seniors, Advanced Mathematical Decision Making.
We publish bound copies of the K–12 Mathematics TEKS and K–12 Science TEKS, as well as full-color charts of the 2012 adoption of the mathematics TEKS for kindergarten–grade 8 and grade 6–high school. We also offer formative assessment tools and tasks aligned to these standards.
