A Study of the Standards: Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
Audience: Campus and district leaders, instructional specialists and coaches, teachers in all content areas
Session duration: One-day session
In this session, you will learn how to use a set of structured tools to strengthen alignment through collaborative conversations focused on the standards. Using these tools, you will explore how to use the standards to guide decisions around teaching, learning, and assessment.
You will collaborate with other participants to understand the structure of the standards by identifying and understanding the purpose of the four components that make up a standard, investigate alignment through a systems perspective, and explore alignment from grade-level and course perspectives.
This session includes the TEKS for English Language Arts, Mathematics (including the 2012 adopted Mathematics TEKS), Science, and Social Studies.
You will receive a printed copy of each of the four content area’s TEKS.
Sessions run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and include continental breakfast and lunch. Participants are responsible for their hotel accommodations and other travel expenses to the sessions.
