Dana Center Role
Lara brings more than 22 years of experience in communications strategy, integrated marketing, editorial production, and digital marketing. In her role as director, she leads the Dana Center’s marketing and communications strategy and guides day-to-day execution of activities. This includes ensuring a cohesive brand identity, elevating the Center’s leadership, and promoting the Center’s K–12 and higher education products, programs, and services.
Before Joining the Dana Center
Prior to joining the Center, Lara served as director of content for Pierpont Communications, an integrated marketing and public relations firm. In this role, she worked with a broad portfolio of clients—ranging from nonprofits and universities to private companies and Fortune 500 firms—to execute integrated marketing campaigns that engaged stakeholders, built brand equity, and drove new growth.
An award-winning writer, Lara has developed content for virtually every type of digital and print channel over the years. She got her start as a telecom reporter and magazine editor before moving into higher education as an editor at the University of Houston. Lara returned to her alma mater, Texas A&M University, to launch and grow the communications program for Mays Business School. She also led the marketing efforts for the Department of Student Life at The University of Texas at Dallas.
In addition, in her role as a senior writer at Dallas-based 1400 Words, Lara worked across numerous consumer brands to deliver strategic messaging and support brand development. Her portfolio included work for companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Corner Bakery, L’Oréal, Art Institute of Chicago, Purina, and Fossil.
Over the years, Lara’s work has garnered numerous awards and honors. She regularly presents and facilitates workshops in the areas of brand storytelling, content strategy, unblocking creativity, and leading and working with creative teams.
