Hello TEXSHEP Subgrantees,
I hope that you have all had a relaxing and very restful summer! As we move toward the beginning of a new school year, I wanted to give you an update on the fall conference and some information about getting registered for this event and the hotel.
This conference information will assist you with registering for the conference (through Region 10's website) and with registration for the hotel (see the details on the hotel web link).
As you recall, attendance by at least one person from each LEA/ESC is required, but you are welcome to have multiple attendees based upon your need and budgetary allotments. There are a couple of details I thought you would want to be aware of:
I look forward to seeing you all again. Take care and I hope the year starts off with a bang!
Thank you,
Elizabeth Winford
Hello, everyone!
Just to give you a "heads-up" as you are starting to fill your Fall calendars—
The Fall TEXSHEP subgrantee training will be held October 10 (Wednesday)–October 12 (Friday), 2007 at an award winning, all-suite, atrium-style luxury hotel adjacent to Richardson. Region 10 will send you more specific information about the hotel and how to register. We will not be at the Radisson this year, but the hotel we will use is just a few miles from where we have had our most recent trainings. Please do not attempt to make any reservations until you receive the details from Region 10.
Check-in for guests staying at the hotel will begin on October 9 (Tuesday). The schedule will be similar to that of our past Fall trainings, with sessions beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday and ending at noon on Friday.
Region 10 will be sending out additional information about the registration costs for the training and details about making hotel reservations. We just want to make sure that you have the right dates set aside for the training.
Hope you are all having productive, yet restful, summers!
THEO staff
Hello, everyone!
THEO and Region 10 would like your input in order to finalize plans for the Fall and Spring Trainings for the TEXSHEP projects. An on-line survey has been developed that will take only a few minutes to complete, and will give you an opportunity to help design the trainings in which you participate!
Please visit this survey before May 4, 2007, and respond to the questions
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks!
Tim
The final version of the Ongoing Improvement Self-Assessment Guide and Compliance Document for use as the project monitoring guide for the onsite and telephone program reviews for all TEXSHEP subgrantees was posted to the THEO website on Tuesday, March 20. It may be found with the other TEXSHEP grant management documents on the TEXSHEP Grant page.
All TEXSHEP grantees are required to send at least one person from their district to the training conference that will take place February 28 to March 2, 2007.
Hello Everyone!
This email is to let you know that two important data collection documents have been posted to the Texas Homeless Education Office website. The documents are Instructions with Sample Data Tables and Blank Excel Tables.
To download these documents, go to the THEO website: http://www.utdanacenter.org/theo. Click on TEXSHEP Grant. When you get to the TEXSHEP page, find the section labeled "TEXSHEP Grant Management Documents" and go down to the 5th bullet, labeled "Data collection resources." The two documents are under this bullet.
Please read the instructions carefully. The instructions document was developed based on questions that THEO has received regarding the data collection process. It will likely answer most of the questions you have.
Keep in mind that for the first data submission only Data Tables 1, 3, 4, and 5 must be submitted. Projects should provide only aggregated data—not individual student data—on these Data Tables. The blank Excel tables that have been provided on the website should make it easy for you to aggregate your data and submit it to THEO electronically.
If you have any questions about data collection or data submission, please call Patrick Lopez at 512-475-9704 or email him at plopez@mail.utexas.edu.
Best wishes for a terrific holiday season!
Barbara E. James
Project Director, Texas Homeless Education Office
