TEKS for Leaders

A Study of the TEKS: Developing an Understanding for Teaching and Learning

1-day session, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; fee $235

This seminar is designed for instructional leaders and classroom teachers, kindergarten through 12th grade. All Texas educators need a deep working knowledge of the standards and how they affect teaching, learning, and assessment. Participants will develop an understanding of the structure of the TEKS, examine the vertical alignment of the TEKS, and clarify the relationship between the TEKS and the TAKS. This session is an ideal opportunity for campus teams—vertical, horizontal, or interdisciplinary—to acquire the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to strengthen the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in the core content areas.

These questions serve as the focus for this seminar:

  • What is the relationship between the TEKS and the TAKS?
  • How are the TEKS designed?
  • How do we improve the alignment of our instructional program?
  • What does it mean to implement quality TEKS-based programs?
