We are touring a number of organizations that focus on STEM initiatives, looking for ways we can learn from those organizations and put what we've learned into practice in T-STEM Centers and Academies. Organizations we're visiting include schools, centers, and even university programs—both in Texas and outside it.
We chose the sites for our learning tours based on recommendations from national STEM experts. We will write up a description of what we found and post it here on our website.
Our first learning tour was the Denver School of Technology in Denver, Colorado, and the second was in Waxahachie, Texas, at Global High School. In November, we visited in Boston both the Museum of Science and the Tufts University Center for Engineering Educational Outreach. In the spring, we traveled to the Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions in Houston, Texas; the Manor New Tech High School in Manor, Texas; and Highland School of Technology in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Visit often to stay updated on what we are learning!
