Susan Buchanan

ACE K–2 Program Director

Susan Buchanan is the K–2 Program Director for A Community for Education (ACE), a literacy intervention program operating in six Austin elementary Schools.

Susan is a trainer and supervisor for ACE tutors, responsible for their initial instruction and ongoing literacy training and support. She works on site with ACE tutors and their focus children to implement the ACE intervention program. Susan has over 12 years experience working with diverse K–3 classrooms as a teacher and reading specialist. She is a certified Reading Recovery teacher with extensive training in early literacy and instruction. Susan was also a primary language arts specialist for the Austin Independent School District, where she developed curriculum and conducted professional development trainings.

Susan holds a B.S. in Applied Learning and Development and has completed a Clinical Practicum and Instruction in Reading Recovery Certification.
