Sheryl Prater
Program Manager
Sheryl Prater is the Program Manager of A Community for Education (ACE), a literacy intervention program operating in six Austin elementary schools.
Dr. Prater is the lead trainer and supervisor for ACE tutors, responsible for their initial and ongoing literacy training. She works on-site each week with ACE tutors and their participating teachers and integrates the ACE intervention program with ongoing instructional goals. She has over 20 years of teaching experience, including as a college lecturer and as a kindergarten lead trainer conducting teacher professional development for the Texas Center for Reading and Language Arts Kindergarten Academies. She taught prekindergarten and kindergarten in the Austin Independent School District for nine years.
Dr. Prater holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Language and Literacy Studies) from the University of Texas at Austin.
