Amy Getz

Program Coordinator

Amy Getz is the lead of the Higher Education Team at the Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Her work at the Dana Center focuses on the reform of developmental education at community colleges.

Prior to coming to the Dana Center, Amy taught mathematics for 20 years in high school and college. As the founding Director of the Freshman Mathematics Program at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, Amy taught developmental and freshman-level math, led curriculum redesign, oversaw the improvement of student support services and provided extensive professional development for faculty. During Amy's tenure as Director, the program achieved significant improvements in student success in both developmental and college-level math courses and was credited with having a significant positive impact on freshman retention rates.

In addition to her work with the Freshman Mathematics Program, Amy was the Principle Investigator on two state Math-Science Partnerships that provided professional learning services to K-12 math educators in 14 school districts and on a Title III initiative to increase student success in mathematics courses and improve the alignment between math and science programs at Fort Lewis College.
