"Invisible lives: School districts step in to aid homeless families," published in the May 6 edition of the El Paso Times, provides an on-the-ground look at the growing number of homeless families with school-age children in the El Paso area, and how area school districts are making it "part of our culture in the school districts that these are kids that need help."

As school districts work to help children experiencing homelessness, the Texas Homeless Education Office at the Dana Center provides guidance and support to school districts to ensure that all Texas children in homeless situations have the opportunity to enroll in, attend, and succeed in school. THEO director Barbara Wand James is quoted extensively in the Times article.
