Tom McVey

Senior Program Coordinator

Tom leads the Dana Center’s professional development team, which develops and produces training protocols based on field work in educational technical assistance and professional development.

Tom’s lifelong commitment to service and volunteerism is exemplified by the three years he worked as a student coordinator for the Community Service Program at Kansas State University and his two years of service as an AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteer with Austin Groups for the Elderly and the Texas Department of Health. Tom also served for seven years on the board of Directors of Volunteers in Austin (DOVIA), a nonprofit professional organization, holding the offices of treasurer, vice president, president, and past president. Tom extended his commitment to volunteerism by teaching the Volunteer Management Academy, a course sponsored by DOVIA and Austin Community College's Department of Continuing Education, for three semesters. Tom has 18 years experience in program and project management and 10 years experience in volunteer management.

Tom received a bachelor of science in speech communication from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in public policy from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in organizational communication at The University of Texas at Austin.
