Mary Jane V. Schott

Program Coordinator

Mary Jane V. Schott is a program coordinator for the professional development team. In this position she schedules professional development sessions for school districts.

She came to the Dana Center from the Texas Education Agency, where she served as Assistant Director of Science in the division of Curriculum and Professional Development. Ms. Schott has nearly thirty years of experience in education. Fascinated by the natural world and how it is perceived, she has pursued the improvement of science education with an avid interest.

Ms. Schott served on the Board on Science Education for the National Academies and as an Advisory Board Member for the Center for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Education at the National Academy of Science. She was selected as a member of the 1998 class of Leadership Texas, sponsored by the Foundation for Women's Resources.

She holds a B.A. in Biology from Texas Woman's University and an M.A. in Science from The University of Texas at Austin. She completed all coursework for an M.P.A. from the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin.
