Laurie M. Mathis serves as the Program Director for Professional Development at the Charles A. Dana Center. Dr. Mathis has led Dana Center initiatives in mathematics education and instructional leadership, working with district, state, and national leaders. In this position, she develops and delivers TEKS-based professional development for leaders across the state of Texas.
Currently, she serves as senior and lead advisor to several districts in the Dana Centers Partnership for High Achievement project. In this project she provides assistance to school districts and campuses to improve the performance of all their students.
Dr. Mathis has more than twenty years of experience at all levels of the K16 education system. Her experiences include classroom teaching and administration at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Prior to her work at the Dana Center, Dr. Mathis worked as a district-level and campus-level administrator. Her work at the district level as mathematics curriculum supervisor included directing a large scale National Science Foundation mathematics initiative.
Dr. Mathis holds a Ph.D. in mathematics education from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Education from Trinity University, and Bachelor of Science from St. Cloud State University.
