Gloria White

Managing Director

As the Dana Center's managing director, Gloria White works closely with the Center's executive director and other senior leaders to oversee all programmatic and fiscal operations. Her research and professional interests include college and precollege mathematics and science education, prekindergarten–16 collaborations, and equity issues in higher education.

Before joining the Dana Center, Dr. White served as deputy assistant commissioner and director of Teacher Quality Grants at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (1997–2005), where she directed grant programs, research studies, and outreach efforts to increase P–16 student participation and success. In addition, she previously (1981–1997) served as a mathematics faculty member and dean at Oberlin College in Ohio. Prior to her work in higher education, she served as a mathematics instructor and administrator at secondary schools in Connecticut, Indiana, and Texas. Dr. White continues to work directly with students by teaching mathematics at Austin Community College in the evenings as an adjunct faculty member.

Dr. White received her B.S. in mathematics (magna cum laude) from Abilene Christian University and her M.S. in statistics (with honors) from Southern Connecticut State University. She completed her doctoral work in Higher Education Administration at the University of Akron.
