David Castro

Science Project Manager

As Science Project Manager, David Castro guides initiatives in TEKS-based professional development, district support, and curricular resources. He promotes meaningful student learning through TEKS-based professional development and systemic change, including work in the Partnership for High Achievement.

Mr. Castro's previous work for The University of Texas includes the development of the Dana Center's TEXTEAMS Physics Properties of Waves Vista, co-development of the UT Master Science Teacher Summer Program in Physics, and service as an Advanced Placement (AP) Physics faculty consultant. He has fourteen years of secondary teaching experience with diverse student populations (rural, suburban, and urban), including five years as an AP Physics Lead Teacher, and extensive experience as an educational consultant providing support in curriculum design and implementation.

His specialized knowledge and skills include curriculum alignment (middle school and high school), classroom technology, math-science integration, and inquiry-centered teaching, as well as math and science content including Pre-AP Physics, AP Physics B and C, and combined AP Calculus/AP Physics. Mr. Castro was a recipient of The College Board's Special Recognition Teaching Award (Southwest Region, 1997). An AP Physics Reader, he presented at AP National Conferences and authored several of AP Central's AP Physics Featured Questions.

David Castro, a Rice University graduate, is a member of the physics cohort in UTeach's Master of Arts in Science and Mathematics Education Program.
