Chetan Makan
Program Coordinator
Chetan Makan coordinates all aspects of the AmeriCorps for Community Education and Engagement (ACEE) program at the Lucy Read PreK Demonstration School. He is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting all ACEE tutors at Lucy Read; integrating ACEE lesson plans with ongoing instructional goals in the classroom; overseeing the library and science lab; and communicating weekly with the Lucy Read staff and administration. Chetan taught prekindergarten in the Austin Independent School District for four years and also has eight years experience working in early childhood education. Chetan is a 1999-2001 ACEE alumnus.
Chetan has a degree in applied learning and development with a specialization in childhood studies from The University of Texas at Austin.
