Middle School Core Science Units

3 days, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., fee $547

Instructional specialists and middle school science teachers will:

• Learn how to implement three TEKS-based, vertically aligned curricular units—genetics, space science, and chemical and physical properties.
• Learn an approach that vertical teams can use to examine the articulation of the grades 6–8 science TEKS.
• Receive a copy of the Dana Center resource Middle School Core Science Units: TEKS-Based Activities in Genetics, Space Science, and Chemical and Physical Properties.

  These units emphasize a hands-on, directed-inquiry approach designed to help students develop an understanding of core science concepts as they progress from grade 6 to grade 8.
