Middle School Core Science Units:

Training of Trainers in Genetics, Chemical and Physical Properties, and Space Science (Grades 6–8)

A half-day session, 9 a.m. to noon. Fee: $125

  • Educators who provide content support for middle school science teachers, including instructional specialists and coaches and professional development providers

Grade-level focus:

  • Middle school (grades 6-8)

This half-day session is designed primarily for education service center, district, and campus instructional specialists and coaches who provide content support for middle school science educators.

In this session, you will:

  • Learn how to effectively deliver professional development on the pedagogy and content of the Middle School Core Science Units to middle school teachers.
  • Receive guidelines and tools to help implement an approach that vertical teams can use to examine the articulation of the 6–8 science TEKS.
  • Receive (in addition to the Dana Center publications Middle School Core Science Units: TEKS-Based Activities in Genetics, Chemical and Physical Properties, and Space Science, which are provided during the required preceding three-day training):
    • PowerPoint presentations for delivering the three Middle School Core Science Units modules, and
    • A protocol for delivering the materials.

To enroll in this Training of Trainers, you must have enrolled in (or previously completed) all three days of the Middle School Core Science Units content training (genetics, chemical and physical properties, and space science).
