This session is primarily designed for kindergarten-through-5th-grade classroom teachers, coaches, and instructional and curriculum specialists.

You will examine key instructional approaches and strategies for engaging elementary students in ways that improve students’ measurement skills and increase their achievement.

In this session, you will:

  • Acquire the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to improve student success in measurement.
  • Develop an understanding of the structure of the measurement TEKS, examine the vertical alignment of these TEKS, and clarify the relationship between these TEKS and the TAKS.
  • Refine their understanding of what is to be learned about measurement at each grade level and the connections among the grades.
  • Collaborate with professional mathematics colleagues around learning and implementing additional instructional strategies in elementary measurement.
