Integrating High School Science: Meeting the TAKS Challenge

4 days, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., fee $696

High school science teachers will:

  • Explore how to provide students with multiple opportunities to learn science concepts using these materials.
  • Use a variety of research-based strategies to enable students to make real-world science connections.
  • Learn how to use these materials to help students:
    • Use multimedia materials and other technologies.
    • Discover how science affects their daily lives.
    • Use critical thinking skills to solve problems.
    • Engage in guided internet research and cooperative learning.
  • Receive a copy of the Dana Center resource Integrating High School Science: Meeting the TAKS Challenge.
    • This resource consists of eight modules that integrate Biology and Integrated Physics and Chemistry.
    • These modules are designed to promote student learning as described in the TEKS and to promote student success on the TAKS within a comprehensive science program.
