This session is designed primarily for 3rd-through-5th-grade classroom teachers, instructional specialists, and coaches.

You will examine key instructional approaches and strategies for engaging elementary students in ways that improve students’ numerical fluency and increase their achievement.

In this session, you will:

  • Learn instructional approaches and strategies for developing computational proficiency among elementary students in a way that increases students’ conceptual understanding.
  • Examine multiple computational methods and improve practitioner knowledge of the effectiveness of these various methods.
  • Develop an understanding of how numerical fluency is addressed in the TEKS and how such fluency supports student success.
  • Collaborate with professional mathematics colleagues around learning and implementing additional instructional strategies in numerical fluency.
