  • Instructional specialists and coaches

In this session, you will learn an engaging and effective approach to preparing students for the biology and integrated physics and chemistry portions of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills.

All participants will receive a copy of the Dana Center publication Essential Science Concepts for Exit-Level TAKS: Hands-On Activities for Supporting Student Success (ESCET), which contains 33 interactive, hands-on lab activities that give students the opportunity to learn science concepts through experience rather than through drilling and memorization.

You will have the opportunity to complete some of the 33 lab activities. You will also learn tips and techniques for successfully implementing the ESCET resources, including an “at-a-glance” strategy for monitoring student progress.

The Dana Center publication Essential Science Concepts for Exit-Level TAKS is also available for purchase.
