The new and current data elements of the TAKS accountability measures will be critical in guiding decision-making to improve student achievement and ensure school systems meet the changing accountability goals.

A key to supporting student success on the TAKS and other assessments is to understand all test data elements and the assessment tool itself.

This one-day session guides participants through an examination of data to inform decision-making targeted at improving student achievement. Participants examine data including Vertical Scale Scores and the Texas Projection Measure (TPM) to look for patterns, interpret trends, and determine strategies for responding to their findings.

In this session, you will:

  • Learn how the assessment is designed and what it measures.
  • Learn what the various scores measure and what they suggest about student performance.
  • Examine how the use of comparison data—when analyzing group, cohort, and objective data—helps improve data-driven decisions.
