This five-day institute will provide participants an in-depth look at Connected Mathematics 2 for their grade level (6th, 7th, or 8th).

Participants will engage in deep development of the mathematical content of the problems, investigations, and units. Other topics include strengthening pedagogical knowledge, reflecting on teaching and learning, and identifying ways to assess students understanding, management, and questioning techniques.

Over the years, we have received numerous requests for professional development around the content most commonly taught in the spring semester. By popular request, we will study the following CMP2 units:

  • Grade 6: Covering & Surrounding, Bits & Pieces III, How Likely Is It?, Data About Us
  • Grade 7: Moving Straight Ahead, Filling & Wrapping, What Do You Expect?, Data Distributions
  • Grade 8: Kaleidoscopes, Hubcaps, & Mirrors; Say It with Symbols; Shapes of Algebra; Samples & Populations

CMP2 is a research-based middle school curriculum developed by Michigan State University and published by Pearson Education, Inc. For more information on CMP2, see connectedmath.msu.edu.
