Algebra II and STAAR: Using Formative Assessment to Prepare Students for the End-of-Course Exam

The Dana Center's Algebra II Assessments publication provides 38 performance tasks in eight categories, drawing from the Algebra II state standards. This session is designed to show teachers how to use these Algebra II assessments as a powerful tool for shaping effective classroom instruction through ongoing assessment.
This session will help you ensure that your students are prepared for success on the STAAR end-of-course exams. You will examine how the book's assessment tasks align with the Algebra II state standards and end-of-course exam, and you will learn how to analyze and interpret student thinking and reasoning on the tasks. You will also collaborate with other participants to develop instructional strategies that lead to student success.
Participants will receive a copy of the Dana Center publication Algebra II Assessments: Performance Tasks Aligned to the Texas Standards (2nd edition, 2007).
