Advanced Quantitative Reasoning (AQR) is a mathematics course that follows Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. The course emphasizes statistics and financial applications, and it prepares students to use algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and discrete mathematics to model a range of situations and solve problems.
Note: Outside of Texas, this course is called Advanced Mathematical Decision Making (AMDM).

On January 21, 2011, the Texas State Board of Education adopted a new mathematics course designed as a fourth-year course to satisfy the four-year mathematics requirement described in both the regular and the distinguished graduation plans.

Comparing these new TEKS for Advanced Quantitative Reasoning (AQR), we can verify that the Dana Center’s course, Advanced Mathematical Decision Making (AMDM), fully addresses the AQR TEKS*. AMDM was developed in collaboration with the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics as a rigorous, relevant, and engaging mathematics course students could use to satisfy their fourth-year mathematics graduation requirement.
AMDM instructional materials (free within TX) have been developed with the generous support of the Greater Texas Foundation. These downloadable pdf files are available free for any teachers serving Texas students. Materials include student activity sheets for 7 units addressing AQR TEKS 1-6 and 8-11, as well as teacher materials to support each unit. The Dana Center also provides fee-based professional development for this course. More information is available at the AMDM website, including information for use outside of the state of Texas. For any questions, for more information, or to be added to the AQR/AMDM email list, contact amdm@austin.utexas.edu.
*Materials have been developed to address AQR TEKS 1-6 and 8-11, with plans to develop two additional units addressing AQR TEKS 7 and 12, contingent on future funding.
