PALs from the Pre-K Perspective

My pre-K kids at Allison Elementary seem to love PALs. They come in every day with smiles and hugs for me. They draw and give me things to show their affection. Sometimes I let them run the show, and they choose the book, activity, or song for the day.

But we never really sat down and talked about what they did or didn't like about PALs. Sure, I heard the occasional "I love books! I love to read! Reading is fun!" (no, I didn't just make that up), but I wanted to know how they really felt about PALs. This is what I got.

What do you like about PALs?

I like playing with puppets.

I like to read Scooby-Doo book.

I like to read books, like Rain.

I like to make a lot of noise.

I like Ms. Copeland.

I like Ms. Copeland, too.

What do you learn in PALs?

We learn books like the kitty and the doggy.

We learn Blue’Äôs Clues, oh, and that mouse, Stuart Little.

What do you do in PALs?

We read the Rain book.

We read books. We sing songs.

We play Bingo. We play beads. That's called sharing.

I like Is Your Mama A Llama?

What do you wish you could do more?

I wish we read Rainbow Fish more.

What do you not like about PALs?

I want to play with Play-doh more.

Can I go get some water?
