Last fall we conducted Family Fun Nights at Allison, Blackshear, and Sanchez Elementary schools. This spring we are at it again. The theme of our spring event is Math Madness, but, as always, there are strong literacy components to the program as well.
The events at Allison and Blackshear were both successful, and we're looking forward to the April 5th event at Sanchez. The events are created, planned, and facilitated by ACEE members. Margaret Tarpley and Wendy Huang took charge of the Allison Family Fun Night and did an awesome job. There were a total of 60 people at the event!
The event ran perfectly at Blackshear under the lead of Lucy Rath and Emily Valentine with 35 people in attendance. Julie Holt, Sonia Everett, and Valeria Esparza coordinated the Sanchez Math Madness, and there were a total of 60 participants at that event as well.
For those of you who have not yet had the opportunity to attend an ACEE Family Learning Event, it's all about families. We encourage parents and children to work together at each station. There are fifteen stations in the Math Madness events, each manned by one or more ACEE members. Many of the games are ideas that parents could recreate in the home with simple materials. ACEE has even prepared a take-home packet for each family filled with all sorts of materials for learning as a family!
These programs are well received by all, and the members of ACEE love putting them together. I suggest you come to the next Family Fun Night at your school and see what it's all about!
