ACE is excited to announce the recent completion of a three-year strategic plan. This blueprint will allow ACE to reach our goal of helping more children learn to read. As part of this plan, we have adopted a new mission and vision statement that more clearly communicate our work.
ACE's vision is that every child in Central Texas is a successful reader before third grade, setting them on a path of excellence in school and in life.
And our mission is to provide low-income schools with highly trained AmeriCorps tutors to ensure that children advance to grade level before third grade.
ACE is laying the groundwork for an expansion during the 2012–2013 school year. Currently we are tutoring in 11 low-income elementary schools—next year we are planning to be in 22 elementary schools in Austin and Manor as well as two early childhood centers in AISD. In one year, we will go from reaching 1,500 pre-K-2nd grade children to 2,100! We look forward to preparing many more readers for success in school.
