ACE expands to help more children learn to read, so they can read to learn!

We are gearing up to start our program year on September 1, 2011, and are pleased to announce we are growing to serve additional students and schools! We have increased the number of AISD elementary schools from 7 to 11, and we are so pleased to begin working with Manor ISD at Oak Meadows Elementary School. We will also serve pre-K students at Lucy Read Pre-K Demonstration School and eight childcare centers. This year, our tutors will provide over 100,000 hours of evidence-based, targeted reading tutoring for about 1,500 pre-K, kindergarten, first, and second-grade students. We expect that at least 75% of the students will reach grade-level benchmarks in reading by the end of the year.
We welcome our 2011–2012 cohort of fabulous AmeriCorps tutors who have come to serve in ACE from all corners of the USA, from across our state of Texas, and from right here in Austin. We appreciate your dedication to making our community stronger!
