ACEE is fortunate to have a dedicated community volunteer, Bob Rogers, from the Hoopoe/Share Literacy Foundation, who is tireless in giving his time to help build children's home libraries. Hoopoe Books are traditional teaching stories from Afghanistan, retold by Idries Shah, that have been beautifully illustrated and published for young children. The open-ended and human qualities of the "teaching stories" help children develop critical thinking skills and comprehension as they hear the stories over and over.

ACEE has been fortunate to have Bob Rogers and the Hoopoe/Share Literacy director, Sally Mallam, work to help ACEE put these beautiful books into children's hands. This year, because of their generosity, ACEE will be able to give a copy of one of the books to 900 children and parents, as well as to provide parents training in how to use the stories with their children.
Thank you, Hoopoe/Share Literacy, and thank you, Bob!
